DIS stands for Denver Illustration Salon, a collective of local illustrators and artists.
The trip was special for me. Ever since the Spring/Summer Medieval Fantasy Photo Shoot in May, I have been wanting to get back there to take more photos when the foliage is in all its glory. Plus, it's just a Dam cool place. (Pun intended.)
After much scouting - and of course, there are SO many cool spots just along the walking path, the choice of where to stop and paint is not easy - we settled in and set up around the top side of the Dam.
I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of plein air painting, and excited to keep improving.
Here are some photos from the trip:
The Falls. We'll have to return again to paint here! |
Dylan and Clay check out the scenery near the start of the trail. |
Great scenery everywhere. Hey, where's Little John? |
Dam right. |
David checks out the view from the top of the Dam - and the progress from the other artists. |
The view looking over my easel. |
The view from David's easel. |
The view from Dylan's easel. (Clay was situated around the other side of some trees.) |
The weather started moving in, just about the time we were ready to pack it up. Well okay - we could have stayed there forever... LOL |
My watercolor sketch from the trip. |
I am sure that the sketches, and the reference photos, will lead to even more fun art! Stay tuned!
